I don't know what all images people used to conjure up before when they uttered the word "Lady Bird" but since the release of the movie Lady Bird movie by Greta Gerwig when we say Lady Bird or even think about it it's her we can't help but think of. A girl on the cusp of her adulthood who ferociously seeks her identity in everything she does and threateningly craves for freedom every second of her life. there is hardly anything in her that we couldn't relate to. Only very few of us could say that they weren't hungry for establishing an identity for themselves among their pals back in their teens. We all can see a scarce reflection of us in her every action. Though such behavior is detested by elders but nothing makes the memories of our adolescence more beautiful than few misdemeanors done then to be the center of attention. But this is not to say that there is not anything good in Lady Bird. In fact, if you take a clear-eyed assessment of her personality you would be astonished to notice that behind those vague delinquent behaviors there lies a good-natured and a more humane person who might teach us all a lot about of life. So here are four things we might wanna learn from Lady Bird to be a better person.

1. Don't think too much when it can be done

Although I cant if she puts this attitude to good use very often but for things that you care about its ok to be little impulsive. When Lady Bird doesn't cut in the list after the audition and finds Jenny might get away with Danny. She scribbles her name on the list by herself and approaches Danny at the very first sight of him. She doesn't hesitate or gets self-conscious. She just reaches up to him and introduces herself. Life is short and you never know when you are living your last moments. So for the things that you love just go out and grab it.

2. Don't be caught up in being realistic
Nothing is more fake than the definition of the reality that we attach ourselves to. Take things as it appears. Stride forward with calculated steps. There is not much intuition left in our life and if someone dares to be an anomaly there are seen as crazy and unrealistic. But luckily Lady Bird doesn't give a fuck about being crazy or unrealistic. Her desire to go to liberal arts college is not bogged down by the constant discouragement of realistic people around her. Though part of being realistic by others(her mother) implies financial issues but this is nevertheless a matter of her career. She knows who she is and what she wants at least in terms of her education. You cant just take any course because your parents want to or because of that's what most people do in your society. For most of your life, you are gonna have to work. You just can't compromise in here. It isn't a tale of a day or two. It's a lifelong thing and you need to be very certain about what you want out of your life. 3. Be open minded
Well, there has never been more educated people in the human history than it is now. And it's not because education is cheap but its easily accessible. Everyone has the right to education regardless of their gender and status. Well, this has helped us in broadening our knowledge in general but not enough of our mind. In today's term, there are more educated illiterate people than it has ever been. We are educated enough to know that the functioning of every human body is the same but cant extend that understanding in our real life where our sentiments for each other are so polarised. Lady Bird might be wicked and weird but at least she is not narrow-minded. The world is not threatened by troubler makers if anything they have made this world better. It is threatened by conservative people. People who are drawn inwardly and lack acceptance for the beliefs and communities they don't belong to. In a few instances in the movie, it is pretty much clear that Lady Bird has a more matured character than you probably think. When Danny apologies to Lady Bird for bluffing her and expresses his struggle to come out, she empathies with him understanding his situation and gives him a warm and compassionate hug. Later in the film when Kyle her supposed date refuses to go to prom she takes her best friend Julie with her to it. Since it was a Catholic school and dancing up with a girl in a prom night might not be of good sight to many especially sisters but Lady Bird doesn't seem to be bothered by such trivial social dogma and enjoys her time in her own way.
4. Accept when you are wrong
Throughout the entire movie, Lady Bird seems to be complaining about her hometown Sacramento. She wants to go out of it. She wants to go where culture is. She wants to go to the east coast take up courses there, far away from her hometown where she could actually exercise her freedom to the fullest and be herself. And this is a constant point of dispute between her and her mother on which the story treads forward revealing some delicate alluring and serious relationship a mother and daughter could have.But after all of these, after all the battles she fought with her mother when Lady Bird did get to go to the east coast she was left disappointed to find of nothing such special about it and realizes how much she does love her hometown actually. The earlier you accept your mistake the earlier you get yourself on the right track. Never be ashamed in admitting your wrong because its a right doing. Lady Bird whoever she may be, an arrogant, selfish, narcissist teen but none of these makes her shy away in saying sorry when she knows she needs to.
I was surprised at how much I liked this lovely film. I like that it doesn't spoon feed the audience by trying to explain everything, tie everything in a neat package, or try to manipulate you to feel a certain way about a character. All the acting is superb, but Laurie Metcalf is a stand out. I appreciate the script and directing - it isn't slick and overproduced, but it's also not choppy and confusing. it felt like it duplicated a teenager's sense of things.
