Chester Bennington - Why Artists commit Suicide

Artists committing suicide is neither new nor strange to this world. History is full of such agonized painters, writers and musicians who fell short of their canvass or words or melodies to hold their emotions. And it's not just the artists who commit suicide; The world is full of such troubled souls. According to WHO, approximately one million people commit suicide each year, that is about one death every 40 seconds. But what soaks us all in grief is when there is an artist out of those 1 million people. And recently we had that experience of grief at the loss Chester Bennington, frontman for the rock band Linkin Park and his death brought back the same question again" why few artists commit suicide or live so recklessly to be called suicide. Despite all the fame and fortune, despite having such a huge influence, Why do they get convinced to put an end to their life. To answer this question, first of all, we need to understand "what is art and what an artist does?...

Melanie Martinez - The Beauty of Unobvious Lyrics

If you are into Melanie's music you know how mysteriously beautiful her songs are. How hauntingly interesting she makes her videos. It kind of draws you in as you watch it. I think I have been into Melaine's music for five months now. I know this is little late to get into someone who's been for 3 years with such an eerie and alluring approach to music. I am kind hooked to this song for a long time now and part of the reason I like it because you can never get enough of it.  The bubbly bass drop and slow, groovy melody with the breathy voice of Melaine are so intoxicating that you easily lose the track of time. What makes her haunting sound so fresh is that she keeps it consistent without making it cheesy or repetitive. It is never really too much listening to it. there is this subtle novelty in it that resurfaces itself every time you hear it. Soap is a gloomy love song from Melaine's debut album Cry Baby.  It's about how insecure one feels in getting into a n...

Whiplash - The mechanism of Criticism

Einstein said Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason, mastery demands all of a person. Paintings, music, and books of antiquity that are obscure now or have taken refuge in the museums take us all in amazement by the mere name of master attached to it but upon looked closely they will equally astonish us with the mastery that it has been weaved through by years and years of hard work. Damien Chazelle's film Whiplash is suffused with this idea that to make yourself proficient at any skill you have to be willing to grind for it relentlessly. It takes countless days and nights to hone one's craft to be called a work of genius. but not just that, this movie also brings fore the role of criticism in ones' life and how important it is to push any artist beyond mediocrity. It reflects how hard-work, when complemented with criticism, can result in a remarkable performance. In the movie where an aspiring ja...

Why You should Read the Book before watching the Movie

I feel so blessed to be born in a time when we have cinema around us. As one of the forms of art, it lets us spill our imagination on a film roll and give colors and life to those vicarious feelings and turn into reality - a virtual reality. A reality which is as true as reality unless you're not done watching it. The silver screen is kind of a temporary space for us to share with our imagination, with our dreams, with all those fictional characters we admire. And nothing is more spectacular than when those little fables of our dreams and imagination and all those characters are carved out of a book. so whenever I get to watch a movie based on a book I read the book first before watching the movie. It's like I get to watch my imagination, my sketches and doodlings of thoughts that I drew while reading the book is gradually being rendered in colors with a speed of  frames per second. It's so exhilarating to watch all those characters and places come alive and move vividly ri...

The Unattained Nirvana of Kurt Cobain

Nirvana means the end of all suffering. It’s a state where your soul unfolds to the exotic beauty of the cosmic world. If Nirvana means the end, then there must be a beginning or maybe there was never an end. Kurt Donald Cobain the frontman of Nirvana band. The man who bent music with his voice, whose scream still echoes giving us a rage of excitement and rebel. Or he was a man who was desperately searching a way to put an end to his suffering but never found. Have you ever met a person in disguise, in a mask where they reflect everything that they are not? Want to meet the one. Go in front of the mirror and you will find the one. We all live life in a disguise. We wear a fake identity to fit in the world, but there are few, who are brutally honest to their character. It doesn't matter to them whether people are gonna love or hate, they are always themselves and love being so. Kurt Cobain was one of those. He was a unique person and was proud of his uniqueness. We all love Kurt C...

The Alchemist journey of Paulo coelho

Paulo Coelho is one of the most celebrated authors in the world, who got the worldwide fame with The Alchemist. It is truly said that greatness comes with pain, suffering, tragedy. If you look into all the great artists, musicians, writers - they all had one thing in common “ Pain ”. They all faced a lot of hardship in their life and what they are now is the result of that difficulty. Paulo Coelho also went through the extreme side of life which ultimately exposed him to the truth and brought him to a place where he is now. Paulo Coelho was not one of those kids who took normal traditional way without questioning or opposing it. He always stood against the traditional ways. He always had his own perception of the world that was beyond the understanding of normal people. When asked by his parents to go for engineering, he said he wanted to be a writer. Though he was forced to join the college but later he dropped out to follow his dream. Paulo Coelho disagreed with a lot of views ...

Commit Mistakes - Art resisting Technological perfection

So iPhone is out in the market and everyone is losing their mind to get their hands-on to feel that exquisite elegant design in their palm, to get devoured by the beautiful immersive technology we get with Apple products. So there is this thing called optical image stabilization in iPhone 7 and what it does is that it helps us get rid of shakiness in our picture when we click it with our hand giving us that perfect shot, that exact frame what we want. Well, it couldn't be better for all those "selfievorous" millennials. They are like in the seventh heaven but it isn't the same for me. See, I'm not a cynic. I don't hate this digital age but think about it. Isn't it more fun to have that bit of shakiness in our picture, a bit of blurriness so that we can click again and again to get that perfect shot? Isn't it more exciting to lineup and take out our selfie stick with a grin smile on our face only to find that we gotta click it again because someone ju...

Why do we Love Music?

So in these past couples of days, I have been stumbling upon this idea of music and its importance in our life. What sort of contribution music has in our life? What do we get listening to a beautiful track?  Why do we get drenched with emotions when we listen to a romantic song even when it is just certain vibrations of molecules that propagate through air and bangs our eardrum? How does this even succeed in inducing those enzymes in our brain that makes us feel happy or sad? Well if you ask me I don't know. I don't know actually. You know although we have a scientific explanation to this, I don't think music is something that can solely be explained on a premise of scientific research which is just as old as we human beings. Music goes beyond that. You know the melodies have been here since the genesis of the universe. The very first atom that exploded and created this universe. The sounds of that big bang are still resonating in the outer space. The sound of the clashe...

5 reasons why Steve Jobs was an Artist

Since human evolution art has been one of the key things which have contributed a lot in making our world meaningful and beautiful. It is the thing that has given us the eyes to the aesthetic values, but it has been long since we have altered or broadened the horizon of art. So, what is an art and who is an artist? Is it merely the one who paints, sings or writes is an artist. To me, Art is all about emotions. If any piece of your work carries your emotion is an art. And this is what musicians, writers, and painters do, and we call them artists. So, what would we say to people who use the same emotion in creating a product -  rather industrial product? Is he/she not an artist? Art credit Artistic Intrusion Steve Jobs’s early Lifestyle was like every other Artist There was the beginning of counter-culture revolution when Steve Jobs was in his teens. He was fascinated by its philosophy and way of living. The counterculture was the voice to all the alienated kids who were r...

What can we learn from Rumi's mystical Poems

There can be nothing as pleasing as reading Rumi’s words in a hushed-up ambiance of self-exploration. It’s a solace for wobbly souls. It's like a relic of love to delve us back again to the astonishing and miraculous nature that created us. He transcends us to the dark and undrawn space, a space where silence sounds and darkness lights. He tinders our soul to lighten and uncover it’s utmost desires. To me, Rumi is that ray of hope which infatuates me to cross the entire ocean of life with just a shred. Rumi lets me know who I am I am always besieged with the thoughts of my creation, who am I? Why am I here? Where have I come from? , till I don’t tune to Rumi’s mystical poems. He makes me understand that I am a divine covered with muscles and skin and beneath that skin, a soul resides who has every answer I am searching for. Everything I am seeking is seeking me . I am the sole owner of this universe. And the most precious of all from the Rumi’s closet is that this world is nothi...

Racism - Our Skin color doesn't Speak for our Character

So as they say that black and white are perfect choices of colors to create a classical piece of artwork. A black-and-white painting is more appealing. A black-and-white photograph lends certain timeless quality to the images in it. Even in clothing, black and white garments works every time. So there is a kind of beauty in the combination of black and white. There are simplicity and harmony that soothes our eyes when black and white colors are placed together but surprisingly this marriage of black and white has failed to do its magic with human skin. Unlike the harmony that it creates for everything else, the combination of black and white with human skin has been the reason for hostility and violence instead of getting closer and together. We have seemingly divided ourselves based on our skin color. No matter how sophisticated institution we go to educate ourselves but somehow we have collectively failed to alter our narrow-mindedness. We still live in a world where the color of our...

Indian Journalism - Why are journalists killed

Truth is something we all for most of our life dwell upon. Everyone wants to seek the truth or preach the truth. Every religion is formed to state the truth. Every war was fought in the hope of prevailing the truth. We all acquire knowledge to know the truth. Yet we know nothing of the truth and anywhere we have ever gotten so far it just closer to the truth. Every time we just get a bit closer and closer and closer but it's never the truth because there's nothing as absolute truth. It's always your side of the story, my side of the story and then there's the truth. And since none of us really know what the truth is, there couldn't be a more blatant lie than ascertaining oneself of what one knows is the only truth. And this is pretty much the condition of our country right now. Lying to each other. What I know is the only truth. What I do is the only right. Putting that truth on the throat of one another so ardently that I would rather see you choked than not havi...
