So as they say that black and white are perfect choices of colors to create a classical piece of artwork. A black-and-white painting is more appealing. A black-and-white photograph lends certain timeless quality to the images in it. Even in clothing, black and white garments works every time. So there is a kind of beauty in the combination of black and white. There are simplicity and harmony that soothes our eyes when black and white colors are placed together but surprisingly this marriage of black and white has failed to do its magic with human skin. Unlike the harmony that it creates for everything else, the combination of black and white with human skin has been the reason for hostility and violence instead of getting closer and together. We have seemingly divided ourselves based on our skin color. No matter how sophisticated institution we go to educate ourselves but somehow we have collectively failed to alter our narrow-mindedness. We still live in a world where the color of our skin not only gives the first impression but the lasting one that remains. And I think this is one of the challenges of humanity that needs to be addressed in order to make this world more peaceful and better place.
So there's a fascinating Ted Talk named "The beauty of human skin in every color" by Angelica Dass. She's a photographer. She talks about the project named "HUMANAE" she initiated to highlight our true colors of human skin instead of untrue colors like yellow, white, red, black associated with race. In her project, she portrayed the subject in front of the white background and chose 11 pixels from the nose of the subject and painted the background with that color and then she made a collage using all those pictures.

You must watch that Ted Talk because no matter what perspective you have on skin color now but after watching that video you will know more see human skin the same way again. Even scientifically the pigmentation of our skin is a result of the evolutionary process and assuming someone's character based on their skin color is illiteracy in your part so you must not do that unless you're okay with being illiterate which I know if you don't want to be.

Here is the beauty of it. The moment you take a glance at that collage of humans faces of different colors. All of a sudden the contrast that you see between different colored skins vanishes. You no more see people in the collage as black and white rather it gives you a sense of gradient as if we are all tint and shade of a hue. Some of us have more of white in them. Some of us have more of black in them but we all share the same hue. we are all blended together. It literally dissolves the differences that we hold for each other based on our skin pigmentation. You must watch that Ted Talk because no matter what perspective you have on skin color now but after watching that video you will know more see human skin the same way again.
