There has never been a time in the human civilization where people have been so inordinately reliant on human senses to elucidate truth as it is now. For a thing to exist, it has to be perceptible to at least one of the five sense organs homo sapiens possess. And if something fails to do so, well it is as quixotic as a floating castle in the sky or we conveniently believe so. To be staunchly dependent on our meager senses to make sense of the entire universe has advanced us to act non-sensical at times if not ignorant.
Who knows what grass really looks like? We just know it’s something that absorbs all colors except green. The reason we so profoundly rely on our senses is that its the easiest way to come to the conclusion for any uncertainties that surround us, whereas having a belief would require courage, for seeing the invisible would always do. To form a belief is an attempt to set ourselves free from the shackles of our limited perception of truth formed through our senses. This is not to say every such attempt has been prosperous to humanity but very often its the belief that serves as the foundation, for any knowledge to stack on it.

Despite any tangible evidence of extraterrestrial life, few of us still believe in its existence, and there is even a full-fledged research going on it. Who knows, one day we might be able to communicate with them. Science has sprouted out of belief. Frankly, if we were to come this far solely with our tangible understanding of the world, we would still be hunting in the savannahs of Africa. It was our intuition and belief that dispersed us all across the globe. When our ancestors left their safe harbor and risked their lives in the wild storms of seas in search of new land, it was the belief along with curiosity that got them going. Sometimes they found one, sometimes they didn't and very often they got capsized on the voyage. But look where the mere beliefs of our predecessors got us - A world of just one continent to seven continents enveloping the entire planet.
Now, when an individual risk the luxury of today for the prosperity of tomorrow, they do so because they believe in it. The whole entrepreneurial age is indebted to belief. From a garage to be the most valuable company would require as much of faith and intuition as work and skill. Paulo Coelho in his book, The Alchemist, wrote "when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." what he meant is that when you really want something that you are going to die for it, everything in this universe - from a speck of dust to gigantic stars, pushes you closer to your destiny even when they stand against you because with a firm belief you would use even your arch enemy to your advantage. And that's the power of belief.
