Perfection is a lousy teacher. I won't generally recommend anyone to chase for it and neither do any sages or shamans or philosophers would suggest. It's the castle built in the air. You can never reside in it. Though it seems to be appealing, if chased will eventually destroy you. Perhaps its a mirage. You feel like you can attain it but put your whole life to it and the only thing you can ever have is a drop from the ocean of it. I don't know what makes one lead an unhappy life but chasing perfection will certainly do and yet few of us fall victim to the beauty of perfection. No matter whats on the stake they set out to chase for it. They are so obsessed with their art that the perfection seems the only salvation for them and one of those obsessed artists was Heath Ledger, a charismatic intense and
mesmerizing actor. An actor who literally used to cease his reality gets into the characters. The roles that he played might be fictitious for us but for him, it was an alternate reality and in one of his
most remarkable characters - the Joker, he didn't just scare us but literally showed us what is the epitome of acting could be.
And then the clock ticks ticks ticks- guess what? Heath is found dead in his house months after finishing the Dark Knight movie. Curious as everyone, what caused his death? I mean not to mention the loss the film industry suffered. How a person who was so vibrant and energetic on screen could vanish away like this at such a young age? Well according to his medical report he died of cardiac arrest that was caused by the overdose of a combination of prescription medications but that's what the autopsy of his body proved. What was going inside of his soul is still vague.
Heath really was an intense actor. For him, characters were not the means to seek fame and fortune but rather a way to express himself. You might not know but he had quite a few time rejected big-budget epic movies like Spider-man, Alexandra to work in a small budget independent feature films where he could actually explore himself with the characters. He used to put himself through and through to get into the characters. For instance, to play the part of Joker he locked himself inside of a room for months experimenting with his voices and facial expressions. He even meditated to evoke dark side inside of him. He was even keeping journals of his thoughts and moods to take inspiration for the character and this is typical of Heath for any movie. He used to immerse himself with the character to take it to a whole new level but such devotion towards work comes with a cost.
Heath inadvertently was compromising with his physical existence and his health. Such a perfectionist on the reel was ironically getting very fragile in real life. He was suffering from anxiety, pain, suffering from insomnia. His head was constantly ruminating about things. He was getting restless day by day. He was kind of sleeping for just two hours, taking medication and pills on the top of that and then one day he puts an end to all suffering once and for all but not before giving us one of the most stellar performances of all time as a "Joker".
