5 Famous Introverts from Movies

In today's times, you are seen as incompetent if you are socially awkward. People get suspicious if avoid talking to them. They stare as if you have some clinical problems. You are ill. Much of our mainstream world has indeed flourished around extroverted personality. If you can make conversations, If you are good at short talks, If you have people skills, good for you. Corporate culture thrives on such traits.

After the industrial revolution, introversion became something that needed to be overcome. Every parent wants their kid to talk fluently in front of relatives. Carry an upfront gait. And if you don’t then parents get a negative impression of the kid. Sometimes such negative impressions have life long consequences for that kid.

Introverts are seen as an anomaly. As if they are the consequence of some random disadvantageous mutation. As if we have lost to the play of evolution. Often extroversion is confused with Intelligence. They seem more reliable. It is not that extroverted people are not intelligent at all. But intelligence or reliability is not the causation of an outgoing personality. You are not intelligent because you choose to step out more often. these are false assumptions and correlation, and it’s absolutely nothing to do with whether you are an extrovert or introvert. But still, introverted people are judged. Seen as inferior.

They get fewer opportunities in the corporate world. In this article, we will take about a few introvert characters to clear the air around such stigma and misconceptions.

Introverts have empathy. They have will power. They are bold. They love living open-hearted. And most importantly, they are even intelligent. And we will understand these with these characters.

Amelie

Amelie is a character from the french movie -The fabulous life of Amelie. As much cute as she might appear by her face but she is even cuter when she tries to talk to anybody. The hesitation the introverts have while talking to strangers can be seen in her. Lived in solitude for most of her childhood, deprived of parental love and companion, she retreats to her imagination to give her the joy that every kid needs.

And when that joy of her imagination slowly fades away with her gradual encounter with the reality as she grows up, It is then she decides to help people anonymously for her happiness. Not many have the intention of helping people anonymously. Whenever we help those in need, we also feel good.

It was Charles Dickens who said, “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another”. Act of kindness confronts the meaninglessness of life. It gives you a purpose, being useful to other people gives tremendous hope for yourself. We get joy when we lend our hand. It is called -  Helper’s High.

Kindness Quotes

The neurobiology of helping others states that acts of compassion, acts of kindness, when we volunteer with our own volition to serve other people we get a biological reward. Our brain secretes pleasure chemicals. It drugs us into bliss. This was bliss for Amelie. Introverts carry an inward personality. They prefer alone or a very small closed group. Often people perceive them as self-serving and disinterested. They only seem to be concerned about themselves. And it is wrong. Characters like Amelie shows that Introverts have empathy. They care about people. They might not have much to talk much but they do pay attention and observe their surrounding.

Walter Mitty

Be in the present is goto advice from everybody. If you are sad, be in the present. If you are anxious about the future, be in the present. Tao is right about it. We should not dwell in the past or the future. And it is one of the best advice there is. But it's not necessarily true that everybody around here is either lost in the past or the future. And neither it is wrong to be lost once in a while. There are many other reasons and spaces for anyone to be lost. This even has a positive aspect to it. Mind-wandering is the breeding ground for creativity Some people get lost in a different reality. And these people are neither sad nor anxious. It's just that their surrounding reality doesn’t stimulate them enough, so they get lost in their head.

How they are misunderstood. They are seen as incompetent and inferior. Further in the movie, you see how Walter Mitty's daydreaming habit makes him realize things he is missing in his life. Daydreaming was kind of reckonings for him. Eventually, Walter Mitty breaks out of his tedious routine and experiences life on the edge. he seeks adventure, novelty, traveling to places. Slowly he also starts daydream a little less. . it is a beautiful movie and one of my fav movies. The secret life of Walter Mitty.

Lisbeth Salander

There is no problem in interacting with people who know you well and whom you know well. Because there is nothing to pretend or hide. And there is no issue either with those who are complete strangers because it doesn’t matter much. The problem comes when we come across a mere acquaintance.
Introverts especially avoid such people. Because it is with these people you have to make short talks, pretentious behavior, and a fake smile. which is very taxing for introverts.

Unfortunately, most of the people we know are these acquaintances. They just know you by face and know your name. And if you try to avoid these people from making a conversation you are considered week and with a feeble personality. Maybe you don't have to confront your attitude. Maybe she is shy and weak. Although Introverts indeed have less aggression but you can't stereotype this for everyone. At least not in the case of Lisbeth Salander because she is really aggressive if you provoke her.

Sheldon Cooper

Sheldon Cooper is a lot more than just an Introvert. His character has many other aspects. Though there is one important aspect and it is his indoor personality. And this also is an important personality trait. If you want to do profiling of someone, also find out where does he stand in the spectrum of introversion and extroversion. And this will also tell you a lot about the basic behavioral sketch. You will get to know much about his inconsequential choices.

Sheldon is a very interesting character. Some characters don't get you bored that easily. Sheldon Cooper is one of them. And you would agree if you have watched the big bang theory. He is one of the lead characters there, and I feel, also the most important character. Beware though, Sheldon is enjoyable only when you get to watch him from a distance. You will definitely get irritated if he is around you. But again, that's fun about Sheldon. what we will talk about is his unapologetic nature.

Whenever we need to say no to party-going friends, or any group activity, or just any social gathering, basically, anything that introverts don’t prefer, many people don’t say no because of peer pressure and all those who even say do so with an apologetic tone. They don't simply say no. As if not wanting to join is wrong. As if you are at fault. Sheldon Cooper in this regard is clear cut. He doesn't care what other people expect oh him. What he doesn’t want to do he doesn't. And we should have this same attitude. Makes things simpler. If you don't want to go, then don’t. say no and don't be apologetic. Having a different personality and preference is not your fault. It's just who you are.

Mr. Robot

We tend to perceive introverts and extroverts in a binary way. Either someone is extrovert or introvert. But human behavior is never binary. It is always in the spectrum. There are two extremes introversion and extroversion. And where do you stand in this spectrum? Are you closer to introversion or extroversion? Whatever you are closer to determines your personality. Nobody is completely introverted or extroverted. One always has the opposite personality trait too. Some people are somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. They are called an ambivert. It is said that Leonardo da Vinci was an ambivert.

Mr. Robot belongs to the extreme side of introversion. completely alienated from the mainstream world. Alienated from people and even from reality. Neither he knows to talk nor he cares. But what he was on to is very ambitious and revolutionary. Mr robot is also a testimony to the fact that extreme introversion can also cause you to choke. It has got a negative consequence too.

But historically it is these personalities that have pushed the world forward. they have set the bar higher. The revolutionaries. The misfits. The change-makers. If you look back, historically almost all the life-changing ideas, art, invention, from the theory of gravity to relativity, from Van Gogh paintings to personal computer came from quiet and cerebral people
