Truth is something we all for most of our life dwell upon. Everyone wants to seek the truth or preach the truth. Every religion is formed to state the truth. Every war was fought in the hope of prevailing the truth. We all acquire knowledge to know the truth. Yet we know nothing of the truth and anywhere we have ever gotten so far it just closer to the truth. Every time we just get a bit closer and closer and closer but it's never the truth because there's nothing as absolute truth. It's always your side of the story, my side of the story and then there's the truth.
And since none of us really know what the truth is, there couldn't be a more blatant lie than ascertaining oneself of what one knows is the only truth. And this is pretty much the condition of our country right now. Lying to each other. What I know is the only truth. What I do is the only right. Putting that truth on the throat of one another so ardently that I would rather see you choked than not having it and no one is more prone to be the victim of this than the journalists because journalism is all about the truth. Though much of the journalism in our country if not the world has reduced to click baits and celebrity gossips but there are still few people who stick to the core essence of what journalism is - to be the voice of voiceless. To strip a situation of its every veneer and gloss and present it as it is in its bare form.

Journalism shapes democracy and there has never been a successful democracy without a good journalism and India, being the largest democracy on the globe it is imperative for us to ensure a platform that prospers true journalism, that supports and encourages journalists who not just confirm us of what we already believe but who also contradict us, challenge of our faith because in order to progress we need an opposition, in order to get closer to the truth we need to be as patient to listen to what we don't want to as excited we are of what we want to.
Sadly, the state of journalism we have in our country is quite tragic. People who align with our thinking we put them on the pedestal and those who don't we either shout them down or shoot them down. Though very often it's the later. Death after death of journalists in India has not just brought us next to Syria and Iraq to be the most threatening place for journalists but it also discourages our youngsters to pursue the true form of journalism. Nothing upholds the right to free speech of a country as much as journalists. They are the advocate of it and they should be because when they speak it's not just their voice that resonates but of million others who cannot be loud enough to make themselves be heard by our deaf politicians.
Let's be more generous in accepting the truth that truth is not absolute.

See we don't get offended or outraged because someone hurts our feelings or beliefs or faith or desecrates our religious sentiments. Though at the surface it might seem, in the depth of everyone's psyche, it's the sense of being proven wrong that hurts us the most. That my truth wasn't the only truth. That my way wasn't the only way. Because none of us want to be seen as someone who's living a fallacy. Though very much we all are. And sometimes this sense of being proven wrong is so hard for us to accept that we in order to save our fallacy end up killing a person.Let's be more generous in accepting the truth that truth is not absolute.
